The official day was yesterday, but I'm celebrating today nonetheless!

I wish I had more to say, but I think a .gif will do better justice to the occasion. Here's to 10 more!

First order of business! TheLaurenVerse and bradleysays tagged me in this wonderful meme, and if there's one thing I like, it's a good meme.

Second, my friend Anna is getting married in August! It's a joyous time, and as maid of honor, I'm doing everything possible to help her have a perfect day. She's currently having some trouble finding a photographer for the wedding, and what better place to look than good ol' deviantART! :) So, if you know of a photographer in/around Erie, PA, please let me know!

On with the questions!

1.) Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.
"A cat's face is particularly telling, expressing a variety of different emotions ranging from contentment to fear and aggression." -- Cat Care Handbook

2.) Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What can you reach?
Another laptop, heh.

3.) What is the last thing you watched on TV?
I'm watching Cake Boss right now. I've been watching Cake Boss for about 2 hours. NO I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM.

4.) Without looking guess what time it is?
9:56 PM

5.) Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
No joke, 9:56 PM. I didn't cheat. Well, only a little.

6.) With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
CAKE BOSS.

7.) When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
30 minutes ago. Laundry. I lead an exciting life.

8.) Before you started this survey, what did you look at?
CAKE BOSS.

9.) What are you wearing?
Jeans and a tank top. Take that, polar vortex!

10.) Did you dream last night?
Yeah, but I can't remember it at all.

11.) When did you last laugh?
I think I made a joke in my head and laughed.

12.) What are on the walls you are in?
Art. And I squashed a spider on the wall, and haven't cleaned it up yet.

13.) Seen anything weird lately?
My neighbor gave me a weird expression just now when I got the laundry.

14.) What do you think of this quiz?
I mean, it came on good recommendation by TheLaurenVerse and Heidi, so it's gotta be good.

15.) What was the last film you saw?
Anchorman 2. Amazeballs.

16.) If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
A hedge fund manager.

17.) Tell me something about you that I don't know?
I like Cake Boss. Or did you already guess that?

18.) If you could change one thing about the world.
Food and water for everyone!

19). What do you want to learn in the future?
Activities in Kenya.

20.) George Bush:
Barbara Bush.

21.) Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?
Hah, I'm going to steal TheLaurenVerse's response, because mine is the same. "Psh, if I won't even tell my family, I'm not going to tell YOU, kind stranger."

22.) Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?
This is a terrible joke. Currently, there's a commercial for Orange Juice in the background. So I thought of O.J. I would not name my child O.J. Orange Juice, maybe.

23.) Would you ever consider living abroad?
Sure would.

24.) What do you want God to say when you reach the pearly gates?
"You are cool, and I am proud of you."

25.) Tag six people who must also do this in THEIR journal:
Cake boss.

One of my favorite time periods to study is the Revolutionary War and the founding of the United States. I'm sure this is mostly because I'm American, and I really loved my American history teacher in high school.

But it also fascinated me how these handful of guys worked together to come up with a Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and an entire structure for running a country that has stood the test of time, though certainly isn't perfect.

I did my senior year term paper on Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of Treasury, mainly because I wanted to focus on someone who was instrumental, but perhaps an unsung hero. In doing so, I gained a greater appreciation not only for him, but for a hero whose praise is widely known, George Washington.

What interested me most was that Washington grew up as a farmer, and wanted nothing more than to return to life as a simple farmer in retirement. This general who fought in wars, negotiated foreign policy, and held the highest political office, retired to a quiet life on his plantation.

When I started out at deviantART, I was a farmer -- a regular member, working the fields by commenting on pieces, writing journals, responding to comments, etc. I may have noticed site changes, but only chatted about it amongst my deviantART friends, if anything. I never thought I would someday work for deviantART, but I'm so glad the opportunity presented itself.

As staff, I saw a different perspective than I did previously. Site changes are a big deal. A lot of thought, consideration, and work goes into them. And when they're released, there's feedback -- good and bad.

It hit me as I was reading Heidi's journal that I've gone back to being a regular community member. There are going to be changes, but the focus on deviantART hasn't changed. It's about art and community. That's why we're here. And changes are just part of the process.

I'm happy for the devious journey I've had and am glad to be back where I started -- but now, with a deeper respect and admiration for this great place.
