Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Prepare yourself!

1. Has anyone participated in a pet fostering program before? My old roommate thought about doing it, but our lease didn't allow pets. Since moving, my lease still doesn't allow pets, but my neighbor definitely has a cat, so I'm thinking it's likely negotiable.

I'd love to have a pet, but it's that whole "long-term commitment" thing that's getting me down. Right now, I plan to move in less than a year, and I have no idea if that place will accept pets. I thought a fostering program might be a good way to help out the local community and have a furry friend around, without too long of a commitment.

2. Anyone got some fun vacations/get-aways planned? I think I've got cabin fever, and I'd like to adventure somewhere.

3. Do you like entertaining YouTube videos? Of course! Check out the Broken Game Bros channel, made by our very own `BrokenTutorials and ~blahed. They're quite fun to watch, and make me want to play more video games. Especially Kirby's Epic Yarn. It looks like so much fun. ;_;

I know of an organization locally and there might be one in your neighborhood where they need puppy raisers, you take care of a dog, but need to bring it everywhere with you, ie: work, the park, the mall, etc etc. Basically you need to socialize a dog and desensitize it to everything and everyone, usually it takes a 1-2 year commitment. You can look up Guide Dogs for the Blind or Service Dogs for the physically disabled. If that fails, your local SPCA usually needs foster homes, if you prefer a certain breed of dog, then look up the local rescue online for that breed. The internet is such a valuable tool, what ever did we do before it?

1. No, I didn't even know those existed.

But it sounds like an AWESOME idea for me and my friend since we want to have a pet during the school year while we dorm off campus!
2. Well if you're in the NYC area or can get there... I went shopping and hung out in SoHo for an entire spring break and it was fuuun! And some of my friends went sightseeing around times square REAAALLY early in the morning (like 4 in the morning) and it's really interesting because it's a lot less crowded so it's good for taking in the sights.
3. I will definitely check it out! ^_^

2. That's so cool! I love NYC, that's a great idea. My brother lives there as well, so I love visiting him when I'm in the city.
