Publish a Journal to Multiple Places!

Mon Dec 12, 2011, 3:10 PM

New! Post to multiple places!

Since the release of Sta.sh and Sta.sh Writer, there's been one feature in particular that we've been itching to release, and we're happy to announce that it's ready!  Sta.sh Writer now allows for publication to multiple outlets, including your Gallery, Journal, or Group Journals.

How does it work?

1. Head to Sta.sh Writer and begin writing your entry.

2. Choose a skin for your Group from the right hand panel.

3. When you're ready to publish, choose any combination of your Journal, the Journal Portal (browseable by all deviants), and your Groups of which you are in an administrative class.

These options are perfect for those who may want to post the same message to their personal Journal and one or more of their Groups.

:megaphone: Keep in mind!

Submitters, be sure that you have the appropriate privileges to post Journals and/or deviations to the Group.

Group leaders, be sure to check the Group messages of your message center to approve any pending entries.

If your entry is submitted to more than one Group, only you will be able to edit it.

When submitting to a Group, you must also submit to your personal Journal.

And this isn't just for Journals. You can submit a literature piece or image to your personal Gallery and Group Gallery simultaneously!

What about skins?

For the first time ever, a skinned entry can be added to a Group without having Super Group status. How, you ask? Read on! :eager:

Whereas before you needed a Super Group to utilize skinning options, this ability has now been granted to Premium Members

So, when a Premium Member submits a Journal to a Group using Sta.sh Writer, they'll be able to publish with a skin, even if they are posting to a basic Group. Please note that this option is only available by using Sta.sh Writer.

Group administrators, we encourage you to fire up your recruiting engines, and be on the lookout for new members, especially Premium Members. :la:

Try it out!

These features, previously not possible, we hope will make life easier for deviants.  As always, we want your feedback!  Try it out, and let us know what you think.  As you saw in our #hq Journal, we're reading, listening, and taking all bugs and suggestions to our Product team.  With your feedback, we can make this product even better!

Can thumbs and images be used by premium members too or is it just skins?

Is what I did (posting a journal to several groups as a deviation) normal? :B

Ok now I'm even more underwhelmed. :(

It seems if you publish a journal through stash writer to a group, if the account does not have a premium then there is no way to add a CSS, even if the group does. The journal cannot be edited by another member to add in the CSS. So all my previous enthusiasm about publishing to multiple locations has been squashed. Please please please we really need to be able to publish to multiple groups separately from our own journals.

Also, I tried to publish the "journal" as a deviation to the group's gallery, and although the thumb did show up in the group's gallery, when I tried to open it all I got was an error message (so I ended up just deleting it from the group). The journal is still in my Stash, though, even after "submitting" it.

I must admit I am vastly disappointed I cannot use stash writer to submit a group journal to just my group. I do not want random group things going out to my watchers. So I guess I'll either use a dummy account with no watchers or use the old journal submission for my groups. I am sad. :saddummy:

It is nice to be able to submit the journal as a deviation, though. I just think people will see it sooner if it's a journal, and I do not want to spam my watchers every time I send out a group journal (which is quite often, by the way.)
