Make Ugly. Get recognition.

What's the ugliest truth about Big Tobacco? truth® wants to find out and you can help. DeviantART is calling for submissions of your ugliest monster, giant, mutant or undead art. Download the facts for inspiration and get in on the ugly action. Winners get cash prizes and will be included as a part of the truth® Artist Collective.

The Facts

Monster

To draw public attention from the dangers of secondhand smoke in 1987, Big Tobacco thought they might try to "create a bigger monster (AIDs)."

Undead

1 in 3 teens who begin smoking eventually die from tobacco-related disease. Not undead. Dead dead.

Giant

A Big Tobacco document shows they worried that publishing that radioactive Polonium-210 is in cigarette smoke would be like "waking a sleeping giant."

Mutant

One tobacco company biologically engineered tobacco plants to have twice the normal level of nicotine. Talk about a mutation.

Step 1

Download the fact pack to get inspired by some ugly truths.

Ughhh, I hate it when people smoke in my presence, not because I hate smoking, but it's pretty inconsiderate considering how dangerous second-hand smoking is.

I hate smoking, even though I never did smoke in my life.I thinking that the US only made it legal to smoke so that population levels can be controlled. My grandparents used to smoke tobacco, but PURE tobacco. It had no nicotine, addictions, just pure tobacco. Nowdays all these "electric cigarettes" that can kill you quicker by electrocuting or the poisonous liquid.

I hate cigarettes.

Smoking is SO illogical to me. Why buy a cancer stick that makes your breath smell, teeth yellow, and causes respiratory disease? And people PAY for that?

It's stupid. I will never understand it.
