The Vestibule (Outer Ring of Hell)
You emerge from a dark, wooded path to find yourself outside a wrought iron gate, the sign of which says, "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." Pursued by three unholy beasts, you have no place to go but forward and downward, into the Underworld.
Spirits neither damned nor saved gather on the dark coast of Acheron, stung incessantly by wasps for the crime of having served neither Good nor Evil in life. These are the Uncommitted.
A dark Ferryman, Charon, awaits you, eager to carry you into Hell proper . . . until he realizes you are not yet dead. Then, he refuses to allow you to make the journey.
You explain to him that you cannot go back, that you are on a divine journey of discovery, and that he must let you pass.
He eyes you for a moment and says heavily, "You may pass, but only your skill and wisdom can save you from drowning along the way. If you are to have me ferry you across, you must gather the ingredients for a protective spell to guard yo

Samhain: Dante's Inferno is an interactive adventure here on deviantART to help us celebrate Halloween. It is sponsored by a small group of Community Volunteers and a few select community members and backed by Community Relations. The adventure will begin on October 10th and end on October 31st.
In the fourteenth century, an Italian poet named Dante Alighieri composed one of the most influential collections of poetry of all time: The Divine Comedy.  In the first book, Inferno, Dante himself ventures through Hell, guided by the spirit of the Roman poet Virgil.
Samhain is a Sabbat, or blessed day of festival, that some Wiccans and some other pagan traditions celebrate in October. It is the day in which the spirits of the dead are closest to us, a day to celebrate those who have passed before us.

Hello again, everyone! :wave: Just two weeks ago, I posted **UPDATE #3** VOTE ON HOW TO GIVEAWAY 100 PREMIUMS. I got a bunch of donations and a lot of people voted! :la: The poll even made it to the +today page for a bit! :wow:

Edit2: WOW! What a turn-out! We have a large gang participating this year. Remember, you can join at any time, so if you're an emoticonist, jump on in. I will be publishing a weekly special-journal during the event highlighting emotes made the previous week, as well as an event round-up news article at the end of the month, so keep an eye out!
:happybounce:  As many of you know, November 1st is the start of NaNoWriMo.  It's an event that challenges authors to write 50,000 words on a novel in the month of November.  Last year in an attempt to give emoticonists something to do while all the Lit people did NaNoWriMo, I came up with NaNoEmo.  The goal is similar--make 30 emotes in 30 days.  
Ideally, one emote a day, but however you carve it up is fine.  Also, if you miss a day (or two or three) don't sweat it.  The goal is to create more emotes than you normally would.  So, even if you manage 15, that's better than making none!

In memory of the young LGBT people who lost their lives to suicide, Brittany encouraged her friends to wear purple on a day in October -- a day that came to be known as Spirit Day. Since then, GLAAD has helped turn Spirit Day into a global event that inspires millions of individuals, celebrities, TV personalities, media outlets, companies and schools to wear purple in a stand against bullying.
While Spirit Day does focus on the LGBT community, I believe that it's anti-bullying message is relevant to every community.  It only get's better, if we take the pledge to make it so. 
Practice compassion and understanding, and treat others how you would like to be treated and we can make a difference.
