Oh, I'm in the Society for Creative Anacronism (SCA), and basically we hang out, dress medieval, dress up in armor, sword fight, and do crafts. It's really fun. Usually several times a year we have a big event were we all go camping together. Estrella is, I think, the 4th largest gathering of SCA ppl in the US.
The main thing we do in the SCA is combat recreation, so we have events were people from all over the country get together at a campsite and have huge period war battles of around a couple hundred fighters. Fighters dress in armor and use padded versions of weapons like swords, crossbows, catapults, etc.
Battles go on durring the day along with craft and dance classes for people who don't fight (like me). Then in the evening there are parties with alot of drinking and belly dancing.
A SCA war usually lasts from Friday to Sunday.

It's a really great place to hang out as an artist because there are so many creative people who will teach you whatever they know, if you're interested you can check out some of these links, or if you live in San Diego, note me and you can come out to one of our practices or events or something
