All deviants can now write Critiques by Heidi, journal
All deviants can now write Critiques
:star: Be a giver!
Sometimes you come across a deviation that deserves special attention. It catches your eye in such a way that you're compelled to craft a response that goes above and beyond a normal comment. Or perhaps a fellow deviant is having a tough time with a particular aspect of their work, and you know just what they need to take their art to the next level. As a good Internet citizen and art enthusiast, you want to help them out, but a normal comment doesn't quite suit your purpose.
For these situations and more, we've given everyone the ability to write a Critique.
:? What is Critique?
DeviantART's Critique system is designe
Holy moly, did we just go full circle into another
birthday? YOWZA! Not to mention a year of me working here! Seems like
only yesterday I was submitting this deviation, celebrating my win over
getting hired.
:thumb245170821:
Then only a week later I was thrown into deviantART's 11th birthday
festivities with a team and job I was still getting to know. It was
overwhelming, exciting, and nervewracking all at the same time! I
definitely had no idea what to expect.
In hindsight, I had nothing to worry about! The team
at HQ are a great bunch and have a fabulous knack for making both
community and fellow team members feel welcome. Beside
Hi printscommunity (https://www.deviantart.com/printscommunity)!,
In our last poll we asked about your use of Twitter in promoting your Prints. Well, the community has spoken and a number of you have asked for some tips on how to better use Twitter to promote your work. So, we've put together some tips for you on how to leverage the Twitter platform in marketing yourself.
Twitter is different from dA, facebook, and tumblr in a number of ways. Perhaps the most important is brevity. Most tweets live and die in a matter of minutes. The vast majority of tweets die in the first hour. Also, you only have 140 characters to say what you want. So how the heck are you gonna use this thing

Deviousness Award Interview with Itti
What is this Awesome Achievement?
The Deviousness Award is an accolade which is traditionally handed out
on the 1st of every month to one truly outstanding deviant.
The Deviousness Award for July 2012 goes to Itti (https://www.deviantart.com/itti).
Hi Itti! Could you please give us an introduction of who you are and what do you do on and off DA?
Hi  I'm a mathematician living in Edinburgh, looking to get into computer programming. I'm 25 and a girl. People describe me as geeky, enthusiastic, thoughtful, shy, friendly, creative, and terrible at talking about myself.
On deviantART I run a little group called Artcrossing (https://www.deviantart.com/artcrossing) where you exchange art or craft gifts

Welcome to Absurd Interviews: Even better than winning a gold medal!
Nerds are gross looking, they said.
They have moustaches (regardless if they are boys or girls), are fat and have an obsession with their calculator, they said.
Well it seems somebody lied to me.
Anyway, before I get distracted by her totally gross gallery full of nerdy imagery... again, let's proceed to the interview, whall we? Boys, girls and everything in between, your humble fabulous:

The Tree as Beautiful Machine

While searching DeviantArt for images for the Earth Day article, I became intrigued with how trees have become not only such a central focus of our current environmental concerns, but also how they play such a central role in our art, whether as background or actual subject matter. There are so many Enchanted Forests on DeviantArt that it made me wonder if trees, so mundane and taken for granted yet at the same time so vital to life on earth and so steeped in myth, have always been the revered subjects of the world’s artists.
There was one especially intriguing piece of information that I came acr
